I'm just wondering about this BCNM 50 and ifit is worth doing.
A friend of mine did it twice, died the first time and got an astral Ring the second time. Just wondering if its a good way to make some extra gil.

My SAM fiance has many seals to burn. So we went together to BCNM50 to burn the seals.

Picked the small chest twice. It was hillarious. The mimic popped open and began thrashing at our poor naked bodies and I managed to sing (yes sing, I didn't have an instrument on me) the thing to sleep. We both tried to run away but only ONE of us could do it. It kept on spamming, "Arlenis is drawn in!"

So the first time I sacrificed myself. My poor baby was feeling all guilty because I was spit out of the BC and no WHMs were around to raise, but luckily enough Erland came. Go WHMs!

And then Dracarys voked on his orb and died for me. Ahh!

I did have people in my LS try it but once and get Raise II and Quake drops. It sounds good if you have seals to burn (like if your main is a SAM, DRG, or something that probably would never see the daylight of BCNM).

Tried this once...with no luck. It's a 33% chance to get something that might be good and might not. I've had people from my LS get things like Astral Rings and Quake scrolls, while others have gotten items worth less than 10k. I'll probably never do it again, but i guess you've got to try everything once.

Cool, thanks for sharing the experiences.
A friend of mine got an Astral, as I said.

I'm a Monk and have about 180 seals in my mog, so I guess I could give it a try with my THF, and if I get it wrong, just Perfect Dodge and use a warp scroll. Would that work?

Having just attempted this myself on a friend's character (he's quitting the game), let me share my experience with this BCNM.

He had more than 200 seals, so that gave me 5 chances at this BCNM. Results? 2/5. Got a Mimic three times, died for all 3. You can't run out of the BC because the Mimic will Tractor you back in. Not sure about Warp scroll though.

Every fight that I won yielded 2 items and bout 2000 gil. So, at the end of the day, I got a Darksteel Ore, a Tamer's Ring, a Tracker's Ring, and an Astral Ring. Total earnings: 520k, but only because of the Astral.

Was it worth it? ...I don't think so.

Had there been enough time, I would've personally preferred to get a group together and attempt the Mandragora BCNM, but it was impossible since I only had a couple of hours to get things done. 200 seals would've easily gotten 3 million gil's worth of items, and would involve more skill rather than luck.

So, my advice is -- if you can get a group together to BCNM with you, then do it. This Treasure and Tribulation thing is pretty much a game of chance... and it's all good if you're lucky, but it's gonna be a little hard to swallow if you're not. Either way though -- good luck.

But one thing in mind...

Organizing BCNMs is a pain...a real...big...pain...

(Take it from the BRD that bums over at Balga's Dais doing 60+ BCNM40 "Steamed Sprouts")

I've given up planning BCNMs when I reached my 10thish run. I'm supposed to do a run tonight, ironically, and two others during the weekend but all's well I've just told the man who wanted to do it, "You want to do it, plan it. I'll just supply the wins. ^_-"

It's just like organizing anything else. People are not going to be on the time they said they'll be on. But then again whichever BCNM matters. Steamed Sprouts takes an average of 25 minutes to complete (oh holy gawd...) and to complete a group will take me at least 4-5 hours worth of work. Other BCNMs can be as easy or simple as 3 minutes flat (i.e. KS30).

I'm going to take your word for it and not do it.

I'll just put a pt together for a Bones BCNM 40 or some high paying BCNM 50, or just wait till 60.

I have a cloudy orb, so I might just go do the one in Giddeus with a BST friend of mine.

BTW--One way to do this with no EXP loss is to go as NIN and Two-Hour. I did it that way and it worked fine (Except for the fact I lost :P)

Well, yes, organizing is a pain in the behind... I do know this, because somehow I'm always made to be the one who organizes most things in my static PT and LS. People are usually late, people forget things, etc... It's just something you have to deal with in the best way you can sometimes.

In the case of this BCNM though... I'm not so sure. I suppose I wouldn't be so opposed to it if the other drops were at least a little more 'moderate' rather than being so worthless. On one of my 'wins', I got a Tracker's Ring and a Darksteel Ore. That's worth about 7000 gil... but the Tracker's Ring rarely sells and is worth 2g to the NPC. So, 5000g. For 50 seals? That kinda hurts, when it's supposed to be a 'win'.

On the contrary, having done BCNM60 Tonberry today, we earned an average of 800k per battle. A couple of friends who were doing it as another PT even got items from ONE battle which amounted to about 2 million gil. They probably would've made about 7-8 million gil within 6 runs; give or take the good/not-so-good drops. The difference between that, and the Treasure Chest BC is just too much to pass up, IMHO.

A tip to those who want to do BCNM though... While it may just be a superstition, no harm planning your runs during a New or Full Moon when drops are said to be best. Good luck.
