Sand Charm - Have you tried it?Follow

Ok, Last night I am messing around with Richarde trying to get the map (actually I'm bored because my party broke early last night when whm dc'd and never came back, but...).

Going back and forth on the ship, fishing and hoping the pirates would show so I could kick some butt for fun.

Well, I remember one of my ls members working real hard to get the sand charm for the map to Bostaunieux Oubliette. Sure enough, pirates show, I kill a bunch for fun and the charm drops.

Now, first I have not fully activated this quest. I have talked to Blandine about her husband and I have talked to her husband and the other guy in Norg.

We all know her husband is in Norg. Has someone tried every variation of using the sand charm to get them together?

I'm thinking about the following:

1) Go to Norg now (with the quest unactivated) and talk to/try to give to her husband. If that doesnt work....
2) Activate the quest and go to Norg and talk to/give sand charm to her husband. If that doesnt work....
3) Turn in sand charm for map. get another and talk to/give to her husband.

What I'm hoping is that someone has already tried this and can verify that one will work or all don't work.

It is critical that we get this poor man back to his family. His wife is so distraught.

Will you help me? Has anyone tried some of these strategies?

Orion,

I have successfully completed this quest. To my knowledge, only the Crossbones drop the sand charm, so forget about the Ship Wights. Also, I do not believe you need the quest activated to get this item, but I have no particular proof of this. Just keep trying, and good luck!

I got the sand charm before activating the quest. I never thought of giving it to her husband in Norg though, and turned it in for my map (which has come in handy helping with Jelley Ring a couple times). Dunno about the Norg option, much luck though!^^

EDIT: If you give the sand charm to Blandine, she assumes her husband to be dead and is peaceable afterwards, her daughter in the goldsmithing guild in Mhaura, however, is very upset (particularly with you for bringing the proof).

Andi, when you complete this quest does it get Blandine and her husband together? No one has indicated this before. I did get the charm so that is the easy part.

I want to do this quest in some manner that gets them together.

Gaah so sad, I always wanted to get that guy his memory back ; ; no way to do it as far as I know, it'd be interesting to hear if he has any reaction to the Sand Charm though!

No dice Orion. FFXI quests always have to finish with some excuse to leave the NPCs right where they are for future questors....sad in this case ; ;

Well I verified al last night.

I checked both Blandine's husband and the pirate near the door that talks about him.

1) No reaction (different) with quest activated and in my inventory.
2) No reaction when I tried to trade (to either one).
3) No reaction when I was wearing and talked to both.

So much for the sand charm. Tossed it.

I didn't really toss it and will turn it in for the map in the near future.

Hope this helps future adventurers avoid that wasted trip to Norg.
