I don't know whether to consider myself extremely lucky, or a sucker...
So, I decide I'm gonna try growing elemental ores, right?
I cough up 67k or so for the 10 porcelain pots, then I go to look at the stack of tree saplings. Constant price: 160k. I thought to myself, OUCH. I thought I had remembered people telling me they used to be around half that price.
But, I'd come this far, so I figured I had to buy them. I try a simple 12k check for possible undercuts... no go.
I then stupidly tried 100k next, expecting another "unable to buy". But lo and behold:
"You bought the 12 bags of tree saplings for 100,000 gil."
...
So here I am at Port Jeuno waiting on the Bastok airship so I can go plant these things, and I'm wondering whether or not to curse at myself for not having tried a lower price than 100k. >_< I keep thinking someone might have goofed on one of the zeros and set it to 16k, instead of 160k. But after my first 12k bid, I didn't really think I would have gotten lucky with any undercut.
Moral of the story: Just because an outrageously low price doesn't work, don't let that stop you from working your way up to the "norm" price slowly. It might pay off, you never know.

Oh, I could afford it, I had about 650k stashed before buying the pots. It still would have put a bigger hurt in the wallet, though.
I'm just anxious to see what some of the better gardening recipes can bring... I've already tried two crops so far for fire crystals, and both were decently successful (35 fire crystals from 10 herb seeds, 53 fire crystals from 10 fruit seeds) so I wanted to try taking it to the next level.
This very well might be one of the things that convinces me to finally make a mule character. :P

ppl in Bastok must have it made then... I started in Bastok once and I was getting drops from the walking sapplings ranging from seeds to sapplings every 4 kills. At the time I was an AH novice so I didn't know what they were worth and sold them to vendors O.O

Tree Saplings do not drop from the sapling type mobs in North/South Gustaberg. They are grown from Tree Cuttings, which are dropped by goobue type mobs (of which there are none in the Gustaberg region).
Yeah, Nagaru, you're probably talking about the normal bags of seeds. They are not worth too much. Don't worry about it.

Tree saplings drop from the walking tree mobs in Jugner forest, and whatever other zones theyre in. Last time i checked they sold for 80k a stack.

i have a similar story but kinda opposite... i was buying gear for bst for bcnm20. i go to buy nobles ribbon and the price is 20k. so i bid 20k and no go. next i try 21k, same luck. 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29... all dont work. i ended up paying 10k more than the previous price >< god im a sucker. but i guess it was worth it in the end. bcnm20 was a failure 2 times and the third time we scored big. thunder pact and an astral ring :D

actually I was mistake but I was thinking of treant bulbs for some reason that clicked in my mind as saplings
