Sounds like what happened to me when I was levelling NIN in the dunes. First off, I had gone into the dunes with every understanding that it would be hell on earth. But I decided I would suck it up and just get through it. So I get to the dunes the same way I always, inventory packed nearly full with all the gear I would need to lvl 10-20 (thank god for gobbie 6.) I even have my shiny utsusemi: ichi scroll ready for when I hit 12.

My first 3 hours of partying go like this:

Gotti reaches level 11!
Gotti was defeated by hill lizard. Gotti falls to level 10.
Gotti reaches level 11!
Gotti was defeated by hill lizard. Gotti falls to level 10.
Gotti reaches level 11!
Gotti was defeated by hill lizard. Gotti falls to level 10.
Gotti reaches level 11!
Gotti was defeated by hill lizard. Gotti falls to level 10.

..rinse repeat. ><

Eventually, I make it all the way to level 12. Excitedly, I search my gobbie bag and whip out my scroll.

Gotti learns a new spell!

I cast utsusemi: ichi and tell the puller I'm ready to tank! He pulls a hill lizard and I voke before the lizard even gets a chance to touch the puller. The lizard hits my shadows twice and I successfully cast my 2nd set of shadows before the third goes down. After another 2 hits, I hit my macro:

/p {Utsusemi: Ichi} {down} {Provoke} {please}

..except the 2nd voker doesn't voke.

Gotti takes 50 damage from the hill lizard.

Gotti takes 60 damage from the hill lizard.

/p Provoke Please! <call> Cure Please <call>

Gotti takes 60 damage from the hill lizard.
Gotti was defeated by the hill lizard.
Gotti falls to level 11.

After all is said and done, and I HP and get back to camp, I ask the whm why they didn't cure me. The reply I got was "I'm sorry, I forgot". I ask the war/mnk why he didn't voke. "I didn't know who you were talking to.

Moral of the story: {Valkurm Dunes} {Run Away!}

or you gotta love the chatty parties....I like to shat but for the love of god pull while you chat..when it takes 10 mins between pulls cause everyone is chatting, and they get upset when you(Brd) run out and pull cause they wasnt rdy...as you look at full mp and hp across the board, and you see everyone chatting so you know no one is afk.
