I encountered the rudest situation last night in my experience yet in this game.

I had created a lower level party (28-30) for Yhoater which included new peeps to the game). We were lucky enought to get a special camp that I always look for when in the jungle. It is a small, dead-end, cave a little father out from the main party area. It is usually busy so I'm sure most of you know the place. It is only large enough for 1 party and keeps you away from the gob trains and if you have 2 party's then the mandies put the other party to sleep or the gob bombs aoe hits the other party.

Anyway, we are doing good, getting some good experience and having a good time.

Along comes another party of Rank 10 (normally high level) players telling us they are camping here because they are high levels and were going to camp there if we liked it or not. All of the players in my party were really offended with their attitude. Comments like:

Lets compare Ranks. Whoever has the highest rank can stay, lol.

There asshats were extremely rude and offensive. The poor new players didn't know what to do. Really escalated into a pissing match.

I just want to let everyone know that these peeps do not respect camp nor person.

Casedawg (leader)
Floopis (like this is new for him)
Pizzafan (I partied with Pixxafan and was surprised he was involved)
Aron(the worst of the lot)
Septheroth (spelling?)
Nitronious

If you see them around please give them a slap for me. Rude, crude, and arrogant.

I'm sorry that happened Orion. Unfortunately I am seeing this elitist attitude more and more. I was in a PT in Garliage Citadel recently where someone felt the party sould do everything they said because they had the highest total playtime (yes he actually insisted we report our playtime), and if we didn't like it we could leave. Another pickup PT I was in had a leader who refused to invite anyone less than Rank 6. Even that however is nowhere near as rude as coming to a place where others already are and insisting they leave because "we are higher Rank than you"

It really is too bad that they had to leave that impression on newer players. I'm glad you were there to let them know that not all high Ranks are ???hats. You sir, are one of the nicest people I have ever met in this game.

Andi

EDIT: /em is mystified why I and several others got trolled for this?

LOL seriously rank says nothing about being elite or not. Look at me...I'm LVL 75 with Rank 6 still, call it laziness or whatnot. Maybe I'm not elite but at least I know I can play my job correctly and to the point that people have said to me, "One of the best BRDs on our server." Playtime doesn't mean jack either sometimes people would bazaar and hell I've got low playtime for the LVL that I am but does that mean that I'm no "elite"?

Seriously LVL rank or playtime has no justification to bully other players around. I wouldn't put up with that kind of !@%^ because it's not only rude it's also being asshats and giving NA players a worse name than we already had. Who gives a !@%^ if you've got so-and-so gear I don't care jack what you've got you're a LVL 30 NIN just like me it's all about attitude at all LVLs that makes you an elite player not because you've got a !@%^ing peacock charm that you bought with gilseller money.

Anyways, to the rude folks...thanks guys for making us look worse to other players!

I've been PTing in the Dunes lately and I tend to keep my main job a secret, and if I see something wrong with a person I talk to them in /tell. I.e. our MNK didn't know the concept of aggro (particularly because he trained gobs on us once XD)

The rudeness alot of players show in this game now is one of the main reasons I havn't been on lately. I play games for fun, but unfortunatly way to many people play it like its a business.

I'm suprised Casedawg was in that group though, I partied with him alot and he was never rude....

OMFG I hate Aron! He is the biggest asshat I've ever meet in this game.

I met him leveling his PLD in the Jungle and everytime, EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME, they fought a mandy they'ed pull back from about halfway between the Signet Guy and the Khazam Gate to where my party was in the dead end area. They'ed try and get us slept and then train a Gob or two on us. Then when another party zoned 2 gobs and their party got hit, the blamed us and called GMs.

Hell, I know people that left a Dynamis LS and HNM LS cause of him.

Whoa, high level, high rank people being conceited assho|es? What is this server coming to?!

Sarcasm aside, I ran into two of those people before, namely pizzafan and casedawg. Pizzafan was nice, so I'm a bit suprised to see him in such poor light. Casedawg however, isn't on my "if they're in trouble, leave them to die" list, but IS an assho|e.

You know there are too many high level/rank people who think they're god when you're ashamed to be fairly high leveled yourself. When I'm inevitably asked (seriously, who doesn't see this in an XP party pre-40?) "what's your highest level job?", I might answer "what's it matter?" cause it really doesn't. I for one aren't impressed by souless character data like so many other people think is so status-determining.

Sounds like some serious creeps.

On the note that it seems some are really surprised at a few of the names on the above list. And not knowing anything about this situation or circumstances I'm going to make a big inappropriate leep and somewhat defend some of them.

Clearly some people in the party were complete @$#%. But just because the party as a whole was like that doesn't mean that everyone in the party is. I've been in a few parties where people were being really really rude to others in the party or to other parties. Now that I've gained a lot of confidence in the game, I give a big FU to the creeps and leave the party but that wasn't always the case. Most of the time I just sat there trying not to get involved. I didn't like what they were doing and would try not to encourage it but I also didn't want to get in a big fight with the person. I was going to be working with them for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes I would send tells to the leaders of other groups apologizing for the members in my party that were being jerks. I usually did that when things were getting really really bad.

So yeah just some of my experiences. I think more than likely all of these people are creeps. But a lot of posts even the original poster was surprised to find one or two of the names there. I suggest not to condem those just yet but to just keep in mind that they were associated with this event and do regardless hold some responsiblility for it. Just made not daming responsibility.

And those are my thoughts on that.

These are the kinds of people now leveling jobs in the 40ish area. I'm a 40 whm, and apparently whms are hard to come by these days. So usually I get in a party and then find it's being run by eleitist that only chose my rank 5 whm because there were none to be found. Then I get ridiculed for having my character nearly a year and bot being higher than 40. Around this time I pull the "So, there are no other whm out there?" followed by them asking me why I asked. Then I tell them to have fun looking for a whm, and promptly warp back to windurst.

Awesome ^^
See, it's people like you we need to remind these elitist they wouldn't have gotten where they are without US around to party with them growing up. Never forget where you came from.

I've considered doing that to many parties myself, but since I'm such a spineless doormat, I just cringe and try and convince myself its worth it.

I want to be one of the elitist Rank 10 bastards. Just kidding... :P

Seriously though, and off topic, I would love to get Bastok missions 9-1 and 9-2 done sometime soon. Tanta, you have an amazing gift at organizing these things. I was curious if you had this planned for anytime soon.

These guys really got to me not because they were a higher rank but because they really set a bad example to the others in my party. The guys in my party were going through Kazham for the first time and we were really doing well until these jerks took over the camp. Soon after everyone started leaving because of the hassle. It was really a bad situation and it is frustrating that you can't do anything about it. Nothing.

I agree also with one of the above posters that this was instigated by 2 of the members (Aron and Floopis). I don't know Nitronious but I have never had problems before with Casedawg or Pizzafan. I know that if I am in a party with someone acting in the same manner as Aron and Floopis I would leave. I could not be part of such an arrogant and rude display. But that's just me.

I'm 75 Paladin Bastok Rank 10 (got rank 10 like a week ago). I hang with a lot of high level people obviously but have never found that any of us consider rank to mean anything. While a lower level player who has not yet obtained rank 5 is probably still semi-new to the game, I don't treat them any different (well I may offer to help them get rank 5 for airships ^^) I say probably because I have met a lot of people who perfer to level a bunch of jobs to a lower level than a single job to a higher level so they may have a lot of play experience but not a job high enough to do the mission. Anything past rank 5 is "meh you got lucky and did some missions"

Considering that there are a lot of high-levels who have obtained rank 10 and changed cities, rank means even less. If you judge people based on rank, it may just hurt you in the long run (i.e. that low ranking person you just insulted may be a member of a high level linkshell you are itching to get in)

"that low ranking person you just insulted may be a member of a high level linkshell you are itching to get in"

Well if hypothetically you insulted this person (not 'you' as in the person who I'm quoting, but 'you' in the general person reading this) such that they'd deny you entrance into whatever high-level linkshell you choose to abandon all your friends for coughoctaviouscough, then the feeling of hatred must be mutual, so why would you want to join a LS with someone you despise? Just to use them for your own gain without any regards to who you leave behind in order to join their ranks and without caring about who these players are as people but as units?

Oh, I'm in the real world, sorry. ^^;

I totally agree orion, i've dealt with many people like this. I always tend to have my party move away from these people, while speaking with the party leader of the offending party. I really appreciate it when rank 10's or level 75's are very cool about partying at lower levels, because it's so much different than high levels. But I will not tolerate people thinking that because they're been to the harder gameplay, they're better.

I think that eventually, these people will realize that FFXI is a community, and you can only burn so many bridges before you're screwed. But until then, all we can do is /slap em and wait for them to get thiers.
