"Zookazoo"? Why not?!Follow

Hullo there, everyone on the Lakshmi server! :)

For a while now I've been interested in playing Final Fantasy XI Online, being that some of my friends to, and they always relay their epic tales to me. It sounds fun, but that's not why I'm posting here today. I want to ask some some questions before I make my character on this server (since my friends are on this server), or really just one question in particular.

Now, I've done my homework, looking through forums and guides and asking friends, so I have my character pretty much planned out. I'm planning on being a Tarutaru White Mage, and then when I hit level 30, I'll become a Summoner. It sounds like a tonne of fun! Anyway, onto why I'm posting:

While talking with my friend (some of you may know her, "Psylight", or "Psylyt" I don't know how she spelt it.) I was telling her all about the character I was making, and while I was explaining it, she was nodding her head in approval. When I said the name I planned to call him, Zookazoo, she kind of gave me a look. You know, one of those "looks" that girls do so well. I was offput by it so I asked if she didn't approve, or maybe it wasn't suitable, and she kind of just shrugged and explained it to me something like this;

"It's not really a huge problem, but on our server there are a gang of gilsellers that have names all starting with 'Zoo' and there's a chance the community might not take kindly to you just based on your name."

I don't really get what she means, but I THINK I understand, sort of. The way she explained it to me was that everyone hates a gilseller, and many people are blatantly cruel to people with names that resemble known gilsellers, even if they haven't done anything. Things like denying them parties and trying to get them killed and things. It doesn't sound very nice.

So my question is basically, IF I joined this server under the name I want, would I be treated in this way? I have no desire to join a game that is going to blatantly mistreat me just because my name looks like a gilsellers name. I know that it's probably just a small amount of people who might do this, but even that is enough to put me off.

I don't plan on changing my name, either. Zookazoo has been a character name for me since back in my D&D playing years in school, and it's a name I enjoy keeping, like a tradition. At the same time, I don't want to cop any flak for choosing to stick with it.

So basically my question is; If I join your server under this name, honestly, how likely is it that I will be mistreated because of it?

I really don't assume that you are all bad people, because Psy swears there are some brilliant people on here and in her experience only a small handful are irritating. Something along those lines. And I guess even if I can't get a good answer out of you guys then I'll probably still make a character anyway, just to check the game out.

So I suppose I'm just askign you guys to recognise that, if you see a Tarutaru running around called "Zookazoo", please don't assume I'm nasty and try to kill me!

I think most people know that particular band of gilsellers as the Zooe's, not just Zoo... so you're probably alright as long as you try not to act like a gilseller too much. (In other words, don't use broken English, don't spam, don't keep rank 1 forever, don't keep a gimped sub, and don't be a DRG.) (Just kidding on that DRG part.)

Actually, I prefer popsicles to eggs.

You'd be fine with Zookazoo.

All of the "Zooe" members spell thier name as: Zooejlkqws-, with a random letter replacing the -. No one should think you're a gil seller.

Or maybe..you really are a gil seller and are trying to convince everyone otherwise so it will be easier for you to level!!

I say you name yourself what you want. The "Zoo" beginning isn't what I see as a gilseller. The "Zooe" beginning is a warning sign for me, and only if it's followed by a random assortment of letters... such as "hjdhjgsjfue."

Then, you'd look like a gilseller.
