I don't know if I will make these a weekly thing, I just need an outlet to say stuff every now and again, and since I haven't got around to a public blog yet, might as well say it here. So the past week has been quite fruitful for me, BST up to 17, first attempt to grow something that would actually make me money finally came through. So lets just say that this is another "It's Friday" type thread, just that it's on Thursday and it actually has content.
Some thoughts that I've had over the past week.
Black Market - I've been hearing some rather nasty stories of price inflation over the past few weeks and I have to say that when I saw it was totally hideous. Silk stacks from 12k to 25k, Tree Cuttings from 5k to 12k, and we all know the price rises on items and such. So I decided to tells some friends of the idea that I had a while back which is kind of hard to pull off, but if everyone works on it, we all benefit. Enter the Black Market (kind of a harsh name).
Anyhow the general idea is that there is a website that acts as a shopping cart type thing. Registered users display what items they have for sale and the first person to buy it gets the rights to purchase for said price. Both parties are notified and it's up to them to do the transfer online in the game. The use of this will ensure that those in the loop know who they are selling their items to, and also stops people from inflating prices. Come on how many people out there think that Leaping Boots are not even worth 50k, and Erase is probably a 5k scroll max.
Pre-reqs would have to be imposed to stop illegal reselling of items, such as Rank6 or above only, or have to be a known and credible player before you can even think to join. Seriously who wants to sell there items for a 'real' price to some little **** that will just resell it for an inflated price. Keep the good items with good people. As I said before this would be a hard project to organise but if it did work then it would help so many legit players out there.
Vana'diel's Bastille Day - Petition this, Post that, we see people ******** about Gil sellers ruining the game for them, but nothing seems to work. What if we nominated a day. One day where we all didn't login. One day where only the greedy and Gil sellers were online. One day where Vana'diel would stand still. If word was spread and everyone didn't play on a specific day in protest, do you think it would be enough to show SE how much they need to act on the situation.
Sure this might be a big thing to do, but if word got around and 60% of players agreed to just drop the game for a day, go outside and get some sunlight, do some clothes shopping etc, I think that would be enough to show SE that we really care about this. A Petition is one thing, but loss of revenue is another (not that they would by everyone not playing on a day, but it would show them what would happen if we all decided that the game was not worth playing due to the Gil sellers).
Greedy/Arrogant Players - Without naming names or talking about the situation, recently one of my friends (and I'm talking not just game-friend) got royally screwed. What is with people these days, there are legit players out there that not only want to level but will also help random players out. Then there are the players that play to win, and ***** everyone else on the way though. What I was told was a very disgusting event, and lucky they didn't name names cause I would really love to say them right now.
I was thinking the other day, we all should create a list somewhere of goals that we wish to achieve. Then we could all work to help those people out, without payment, just for the fun of the game. I'm not talking about Genkei/Key runs, more Zilart Missions, specific items, Avatars, you name it. Phildo's Payitforward LS is already doing these sorts of things, but I'm not sure how far past G2 and Key runs Phildo's wanting to take it.
I don't know this might be a stupid idea or something like that, might just throw it on the pile of other stupid ideas that I've had through the week. Anyhow hopefully I've taken your mind off the other gloomy threads and given you something to think about while counting down the seconds left at work.
Have a good Thursday.
