Crace's Desire

DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Per Patch 1.59: Crace's Desire - players from Albion and Midgard should now be able to finish this quest on Co-op. Crace in Domnann Grove #1: go to Fidelma in Banh Didein (easy horse ride) #2: ask her for the sample #3: return the sample to Crace #4: hunt the mantid surveyors in Caillte Garran (around loc 7k, 35k, also seen at loc=25.8,42.1) just stay on the road N out of Domnann until you find the bridge and river... stay on the road until you see the mantid mud huts. (Their is an alt branch to this quest at step 4, if you say "Crace" the surveyor will tell you to kill a Ixtair Runesteir (loc=62.0,57.2) for it's carapace. Return the carapace to the surveyor and it will give you the reward that is slightly better and a decaying carapace. Return the decaying carapace to crace without talking to him and he will reward you with around 20 mil exp and yell at you. If you talk you him first he will just yell at you completing the quest.) #5: It will plead with you for its life, laying a guilt trip or something... kill it and be forever burdened with shame :/ If your faction with the mantid is good, and you tell the surveyer you were sent by Crace ( 'Crace' the key word ) It will send you to kill an Ixthiar ruinator, which you can find just north of Aelid Fie, and return the Ixthiar legs to the Mantid Surveyer. There the Surveyer will reward you with a 100% hauberk (for my character, bard, I received an Ixthiar Reinforced vest. AF 76, absorb 19, charisma 6, Dex 7, cold resist 8%, hits 15). The Surveyer gives you a ruined carapace to take back to Crace. Tell Crace it is his ' Just Prize '. Crace gets real upset at you for siding with insects and you receive experience #6: return the carapace to Fidelma #7: go to Crace with the finished product, he will reward you with the chest. nice lvl 40 armor. lvl 39 received 10 silver after returning sample piece to Crace Lvl 39 received 6 million xp after turning Mantid Carapace into Fidelma lvl 39 received 2 million xp and 20 silver for ending quest Enchanter got silver woven tunic Silver Scaled Hauberk -- Champion, Silvered Leather Jerkin -- Vampiir Ixthiar Woven Tunic -- Mentalist and Valewalker Silver Constructed Hauberk -- Warden Rewards: |

Won't talk/give quest @ lvl 38
Did this quest with my L36 Enchanter and found Mantid Surveyors at loc 25.8,42.1 that conned Yellow to me.
Found the Ixthiar Ruinaters at 62.0,57.2 just after crossing into Vale of Balor and then heading South, crossing the river. They were Yellow and aggressive to me, where the Mantid Surveyors were not, so I think it was the right choice. No sense getting bad faction if you don't have to.

I'm following the "alternate" path, too. I'm supposed to kill an ixthiar ruinator and get its legs. I've killed a couple dozen of them, and so far no legs. Is this item a regular drop, or a quest drop? I've got carapaces, eyes, claws, etc. but no legs.
(Edit: I got the "*******" message from the first Ruinator I killed, who dropped nothing.)

At 35 I did this quest, the alternate way. Got a black-dyed cloth tunic:
Ixthiar Woven Tunic
AF 38 con 100%, qua 100% dur 100%
Int +6
Hits +15
Slash 6%
Pow +3
Let me say killing the ixthiar ruinator (yellow con) was much easier than the surveyor would have been (purple con). And the ruinator called me "a *******", so I felt retroactively justified in killing it. ;)
