Introduced as part of the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion, Einherjar adds another form of large-scale battle to the world of Vana'diel, following in the footsteps of Dynamis and Limbus, released in the previous two expansions.
Einherjar is a 6-36 character series of battles within the Hazhalm Testing Grounds.
These battles are focused around short, quick battles, against a small yet powerful group of foes.
Once those battles are mastered, the final fight pits the characters against Odin himself.
Each character must be at least level 60, and able to recieve Sanction.
Each character must be in possession of a Glowing Lamp.
Treasures of Aht Urhgan must be installed.
Smouldering Lamps can be purchased from Kilusha (Nashmau, 180,000 gil) after viewing a cutscene upon talking with her.
The Smouldering Lamp is traded to the Entry Gate in Hazhalm Testing Grounds, whereupon the character can reserve and select a specific chamber to enter.
This lamp is then used to create Glowing Lamps, which must be passed out to attendees. (similar to Dynamis)
Once the initial lamp trade has been made, the chamber will only be available for the next 30 minutes.
Therefore, it is essential that lamps and made and traded, and the attendees enter swiftly after the reservation is made.
Odin's Chamber can be entered by anyone who has one key item from each wing of Hazhalm, other than the reserving character.
From the moment a chamber is reserved, the attendees have 30 minutes to clear it before being removed.
The time limit cannot be extended.
Each chamber is a single room containing several monsters, and a "boss".
All must be defeated for the chamber to be cleared.
When a chamber is cleared, attendees obtain a key item to show they have cleared that chamber.
A notorious monster will appear in the chamber after a predefined amount of time, defeating the monster or allowing it to despawn, will cause varying effects.
Hate within the chamber is alliance based, if one person has hate in an alliance then everyone does.
As in Dynamis, merely being within the chamber is enough to allow a character to lot on items.
The player who has lotted highest will be displayed next to the item.
Players who leave the chamber will be unable to lot.
If the reservation runs out, the treasure pool will be emptied, any items still within it, will be lost.
An armory crate will appear in the center of the area upon clearing a chamber.
Attendees will have 5 minutes to lot on the contents, regardless of remaining reservation duration.
Characters will receive Ampoules of Therion Ichor depending on the number and type of enemies that defeated.
A character will still receive Therion Ichor if they drop their lamp or time out.
Leaving via [[FFXI Spell:Warp, returning to home point from death, or teleporting out of the area in any way, will cause a character to not receive Therion Ichor.
Therion Ichor can be used to purchase items from Kilusha in Nashmau.
Several abjurations can be obtained from the armoury crates.
These can be abjurations previously obtainable from other areas, or the Einherjar-specific Hadean and Phantasmal sets.
