DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Per Patch 1.59:
- The quest "Silent Death" has been opened to Savages and Bonedancers. Also, ALL rewards for this quest have been changed to "No Sell".

This is the second in a series of quests. Hunting Party is required (3 times).

Speaking to Bork in Huginfell begins a quest involving a large lizard named Njessi in the lake between Gna Faste and Galplen. If you've never spoken to Bork before he may ask you to go kill some random thing approx. your level. After which he will tell you of a fearsome beast rumored to live in the lake at Gna Faste. He wants you to travel there and kill the beast and bring back its head as proof.

The best place I have found to camp this creature is straight towards the lake from the Gna Faste Hut in which the healer trainer stands outside of. Njessi will travel right past you staying in the water as she does. She conned blue, orange, and yellow to me at level 25 and is a very tough kill for her level. She has a searing heat blast which she uses frequently in the battle. Upon killing her you will rip her head off in a feat of strength. Return to Bork in Huginfel. Bork will ask to see the head but when you give it to him he hands it right back to you along with the 70sp reward. He then offers to buy the head from you. It is very important that if you want a good weapon you say NO to his offer. Saying yes will earn you a lousey 25sp more. If you say no he will then direct you to the Enchanter in town. Speaking to the enchanter she will tell you to head off to some other NPC in the game. Your class determines what NPC you will need to see.

Bork says, "You seem to be string enough to take on a real monster. A bounty issued for a [creature] that is terrorizing the lake near Galplen. Perhaps you have heard of it?"

Bork says, "Well here is all I know. It seems to many of the more adventurous sort of the land have called this creature, [Njessi]."

Bork says, "I agree that's a very strange name for a monster but I did not choose it. The [reward] for slaying thjis foul beast is quite large. That is good for [many have perished] trying to collect it."

Bork says, "Would you be interested in the [bounty]?"

Bork says, "I sent some after the creature just a few hours ago. Would you be interested in the [bounty]?"

Bork says, "The bounty is 70 silver for the head of the creature. What do you think?"

Dialog box: Find Njessi and end her reign of terror.

You have been given the Silent Death quest.

Bork says, "Well you are a brave soul. The creature can be found in the darkest depths of the Myrkwood lake. Good fortune on your jouirney and I really hope to see you again, my friend."

[Step #1] Travel to the lake in Myrkwood and slay Njessi.
(Note: as of patch 1.83 Njessi can be found roaming the bottom of the lake in the same area as before. May need a water breathing potion pot to get her.)

You receive Njessi's head from Njessi!
You get 250,000 experience points.

You pull the creature's head from the corpse in a display of strength.

[Step #2] Return to Bork in Huginfell and speak with him.

Bork looks up with a very surprised look on his face.

Bork says, "You have returned. Amazing! Did you bring anything of Njessi back?"

You give Bork Njessi's head.

Bork says, "The god themselves must be watching you! You have brought back the creatures head. Here is your reward. I know of something you can do with [this head]."

You are awarded 70 silver and some copper!

You receive Njessi's head from Bork!

Bork says, "I have heard that Raker, the town enchanter, has been looking for one. Perhaps he can do something with it. You should do talk with him."

[Step #4] Find Raker in Huginfell and see if the head can be crafted into anything.

Raker says, "Greetings. Bork said you miught be coming by. I have heard tales of your travels as word spreads quickly around these parts. Please give me the skull so I can take a look at it."

You give Njessi's head to Raker.

Raker turns the skull over in his hands, looking closely at it, before returning it to you.

You receive Njessi's head from Raker!

Raker says, "I have an interesting idea. I believe that a magic staff can be crafted by driving slivers of skull bone deep into hardened wood. Only Gord in Galplen could make one of those. You must journey there and meet with him. He will be able to help you."

[Step #5] Journey to Galplen and speak with Gord the smith. He will be able to craft you the staff you desire.

Gord says, "I can make a staff that you will be able to use. The head is starting to rot though so I must start now. Would you like me to [make one] or [not]?"

Do not click not, you will only get some silver and will not get a weapon made for you.

[Step #6] Continue talking to the crafter to get your weapon.

Gord says, "Now these are very powerful staffs. You will be expected to uphold the traditions of all the Spiritmasters that have come before you. I will give you one of the staffs that I have already prepared. That way you din't have to wait."

You receive a Njessi Staff of Pure Thought from Gord!

Gord says, "Here is your staff. Now I expect you to spread the word and tell others that I can create these staffs. Just be sure and tell your friends to bring one of the Njessi heads so I can craft a new staff for the next person. May Hel guide your hand in battle."

You have finished the Silent Death quest.

Rewards:
  Njessi Carved Fang (2H)
  Njessi Bone Hammer (1h)
Njessie Staff of Pure Thought (Runemaster)
Njessie Staff of Pure Thought (Spiritmaster)

there are numourous items you can get but you have to find the specific smiths, hunter can get njessi short tooth spear 8.4dps 5.4sp 10%bonus +4 spear and + 4 thrust or slash, though it seems it didnt trigger at lvl 22 it triggered at lvl 25
if you sell him the head you get nothing back cept 25 silver, and if you dont do the quest fast (after you have the head) then it can rot, this leaves u with 15 silver. Hope this is some help :P

Runemasters can also get the quest recieve a staff with +18 (or +17, can't remember) to darkness, supression, and runecarving. I think all classes can get this quest and get an item specific for them.

Hi, I choose 1h only to switch to another better quest 1h at the next level and now I regret my choice. Someone said that it is possible to trade yer 1h for a 2h if you change your mind after you allready got the reward.
I have tried talking and giving the weapon to both Bork and the smith who made me the 1h but none works.
Anyone knows if it's possible and if so, how?
Can't get quest

REWARD
# Jan 25 2002 at 7:39 AM Rating: Default
You have a choice of weapons. You can get any weapon you want made, 1 or 2 handed if applicable. Say NO to Bork when he asks to buy the head. He will send you to the enchnter in town who will send you to a smith. Which smith in which town varies by class. The smith will give you choices of what weapon and what type (1 or 2 hand) you want made.

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT BEFORE YOU START THE CONVERSATION WITH THE SMITH! IF YOU CANCEL THE DIALOG YOU LOSE THE HEAD AND GET NO WEAPON!

It's a level 22 quest given from Bork. If you have not done the hunting party quest he will not give you the dialogue. However if you have a party member that has gotten the quest you will retrieve the head and can continue through the following steps.

Once you have gotten the head and return to Bork he will ask to buy the head. Say NO. He will then direct you to the enchanter. The enchanter will then direct you to a class specific smith. In the case of melee characters this will be fort alta. The smith there can make 1 or 2 handed axes/hammers/swords. All around 8.0/3.0

Hope this helps
dps discrepancy
# Dec 18 2001 at 6:39 PM Rating: Default
I completed this quest last night with my shammy at lvl23 also. I accepted the one handed hammer but the mods are slightly different than the mods on the hammer listing on this site. My hammer does over 8 dps and has +4 to hammer instead of +3. I'm not complaining...just wanted to point it out.
