DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

This is the Traveler's Way quest for Path of Focus.

Given at level 7 to many classes. The quest begins in Tir na Nog. Your guild master tells you that you have trained hard and are ready to further the aims of your chosen path. He/she then asks you if you [agree on this]. He/she then tells you about an abandoned camp in a forgotten grove of trees.

It's [not safe to stay] there at night and she is not kidding. Anger sprites and worse prowl the area during the night. Make sure you go there during the day. To get there follow the road to Ardee and go to just before the bridge and head west. You should very quickly come to the camp on a hill (loc=33k, 23k).

The creature you must kill is a wind ghoul named Windaille (spawns around 6AM game time...reported to be 6:14). Once you kill him, a tree creature (Fearg) spawns and attacks a nearby NPC named Bas. Kill the tree creature, or simply let Bas do it. Then kill Bas and you receive "Bas' Gem". Talk to the Empyrean that then spawns and she tells you of the history of this place, and then tells you the next step in your quest.

Now go back to the road and head south to Howth. It's a long run so take a horse from Mag Mell.

Once in Howth, go to the lodge in the center of town and speak with Cathbad. He asks you if you've been visiting [ancient groves].

Then he asks if anything was odd and if something was [guarding the grove]. When he asks if you received anything, give him "Bas' Gem" to receive experience and a minor magic item.

Rewards:
Carved Wooden Bracer -- Wardens
Nature's Shroud -- Ranger
Medallion of the Warriors Spirit -- Hero
Twisted Silver Choker -- Eldritch

Next quest in this series:
Connla's Well

Rewards:
  Natures Shroud
  Carved Wooden Bracer
  Medallion of Warriors Spirit
  Twisted Silver Choker

As a 7 Eldritch I solo'd the Ghould (the first part of the quest) rather easily using 2 Void spells then a QC Moonray. It didn't kill him all the way, but a could whacks with my Staff and he bit the dust.

Bas and the Tree started to fight it out ASAP to my right near the fire pit. They beat each other down pretty good. After the tree died, Bas had like 30 HP's left. So nothing that one blast couldn't handle. The spirit (can you tell i'm bad with names? =p) spawned in the fire pit, gave me the gem, and told me to go to Audee (spelling?) and deliever it to someone there.

My reward was 2 bubs of exp and a twisted chocker. Pretty easy quest, and neat story line.

Worked for me first time. After killing Windaille the other 2 spawn by the fire. Good quick quest took about 40 mins, running the whole way. I'm a Warden and got a wood bracer +1 empathy, +2 intelligence

Thanks

I found Windalie and have killed him 3 times. I have not seen the tree creature spwn nor have I found Bas. Do they spawn in the same place where i kill Windalie?

Thanks,

All five times I have seen Frear and Bas fight, regardless of where Windallie dies, they have spawned right next to the firepit in the middle of the lean-to's, always on the W side of the firepit. Who wins the fight varies, but they always spawn there (in my experience) and the Empyrean NPC spawns right inside the firepit facing W where the Bas and Frear's bodies are.

could a lvl 7 eldricht solo this or should i get a group or wait?
RE: Eldricht

A level 7 Eldritch can solo this. Standard procedure: stand at max range, chain cast your two bolts (I'm maxed in void), then cast your standard nuke. The ghoul was yellow to me at 7 and I managed to kill him, np.

The reward is exp, maybe some coin and a necklace with +2 int, +1 dex and some plus to power. One thing to watch for is the ghoul respawns rather quickly and could aggro on you while you speak with the Empyrean, which is what happened to me.

What level are the MOBS you have to kill? Can a lvl 7 ranger do it by himself or should I wait a level or 2? Dont want to die and lose the quest!

Thanks

The Windaille seems to be Lvl 6 and Bras is Lvl 7. After Bras killed the tree he just has 50% hitpoints left, so it is an easy kill. Did it yesterday with Level 7 and got a 2dex, 1 con cloak.
RE: what level?

you won't lose any quest when you die; a lot of quests are given at too low of a level if you try to keep up on them, and there isnt any way of going a full level or even two without dieing, unless you try to gain all your levels from greens, but even that has risks ; )
only tasks (saying "task" or "help") end upon death

Yes you can do it solo at lvl 7 as a ranger. I just did it last night. Wasnt too hard. Most dangerous part was getting to the lean toos and back.
Empyrean

Anyone have what Empyrean says to you offhand? I got distracted when she spawned and missed the conversation and it's been bugging the hell out of me what that was all about. Thanks in advance!

Bah, hit enter instead of tab, sorry for the double post.

You have to talk to the Empyrean to get the gem, you don't recieve it from killing Bas or Fearg. She only spawns once both are dead.

As an eldritch I recieved a twisted silver choker (+2 int, +1 dex) as the reward.
