These are gates between Elysea and Asmodae. They are not constantly in operation, though. Every 2 hours they open for a few minutes, allowing raiding parties from one sphere to travel to the other. Each gate goes to one specific location, when it is open.

Very little is actually known about these. Many of them, but not all, have a clickable statue (Statue of Urgasch) floating above them that may allow activation under special circumstances, but we just don't know for certain.
