I've killed these in the bridge room in Spindelhalla, and they've also dropped ringed darksteel leggings, ringed darksteel hauberk, and a darksteel necklace.

While their minimum level is indeed level 42, but they go up to at least level 44 :)

Prima Guide says 42, remember cons are skewed the higher you level.
